Lcpl Jimenez was a fire team leader during combat operations when his unit came under heavy attack by a numerically superior NVA force in well-camouflaged emplacements.
Lcpl Jimenez charged the enemy positions alone and personally silenced an antiaircraft weapon and dispatched the enemy gunners to their god.
Shouting encouragement the other Marines, Jimenez maneuvered to within 10 feet of an enemy machinegun crew and eliminated them.
Out in the open Lcpl Jimenez became the target of concentrated fire enemy gunners desperate to stop his advance.
He was mortally wounded but his indomitable courage, aggressive fighting spirit and unfaltering devotion to duty helped drive his men to route the enemy from the area.
